A Fire Bokken is a Japanese wooden sword used for training, similar in size and shape to a Katana. The wicked material is soaked in liquid fuel and lit on fire as part of cultural dances, and martial arts routines. We recommend only fueling the top 3/4 of the sword because of the heat generated by this prop.

Note: we no longer use Kevlar tubing to cover the sword because it often results in an air gap between the Kevlar wick and the Nomex felt. This air gap will prevent the fuel from fully evaporating from the felt, causing a short burn time and leaving you with a half fueled sword.  Also, we no longer wick the tip of the sword because this where the wick generally degrades first leading to the need for rewicking.

    Excellent full contact fire swords

Posted by Joey Yandle on Sep 5th 2016

In addition to spinning fire, I also teach a dual long sword kenjutsu style (dancingdragon.net). These swords are perfect for combining the two disciplines. My first set of four are still going strong after a year of heavy use, including full contact during both practice and performance. An unexpected benefit is that the kevlar acts as padding, so these swords are actually less dangerous then the typical bokuto I use for training. One of the kevlar sleeves has begun to expand outwards from the core of the sword, but all remain fully functional. I'm so happy with them that I just bought a third pair!

    Solid product

I've only lit it up once but it was amazing. The sword is solid, well made and puts out a ton of fire. Felt like arm wrestling the Human Torch.
